Degxnerate Youth is a unisex avant-garde fashion label founded by Maya Peats, with Olivia Peats as Co-Creative Director and Art Director. Born from a desire to challenge traditional fashion constructs, the brand stands at the intersection of subversion, sustainability, and self-expression.

Founded during Maya’s studies at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, Degxnerate Youth fuses academic design discipline with raw creative instinct. Maya’s signature design language is rooted in deconstruction, anti-fashion, and androgyny — favoring asymmetry, exaggerated draping, distressed textures, and unconventional silhouettes. Her work reflects a strong commitment to using upcycled fabrics and ethical production methods, often sourcing deadstock or repurposing discarded materials into sculptural, wearable art.

The brand's philosophy is grounded in nonconformity and conscious rebellion. It challenges fast fashion's mass-production model by creating limited-run, one-of-a-kind pieces that blur the lines between gender, season, and trend. Degxnerate Youth isn’t just about how clothes look — it’s about what they stand for.

As the brand’s visual strategist, Olivia Peats leads the creative direction behind campaigns, runway presentations, and editorials. Her work ensures that the aesthetic identity of Degxnerate Youth remains cohesive, visceral, and unmistakably bold — from grainy runway graphics to high-contrast photography and film.

Since launching their debut collection “Decadence” (SS23), Degxnerate Youth has steadily built momentum in the underground fashion scene. Their early showcases across LA’s fashion shows, flea markets, and pop-ups positioned them as a cult favorite among Gen Z creatives looking for authenticity and edge.

Their sophomore collection, “Intemperance”, premiered at the TENS Fashion Show and marked a major step forward — later featured at New York Fashion Week 2024, where it caught the attention of stylists, editors, and independent artists alike.

Their latest release, “Antumbra” (DY.S3), deepens the brand’s exploration of duality — specifically, the contrast between light and shadow. This concept is expressed through layered fabrics, asymmetrical draping, and fabric manipulation techniques that create dimension and mood. The collection debuted at the Nexus Moda Runway Show in DTLA, a showcase at the cutting edge of sustainable fashion and technology.

As Degxnerate Youth evolves, it continues to expand its reach through collaborations, editorials, and progressive runway shows, all while staying true to its founding values: sustainability, originality, and the power of design as a form of rebellion.
